2. State the Week's reasoning question

Worked reasoning: from evidence to a defensible action

Connecting evidence to action means answering one narrow question: what does this source change about what should be done, for whom, by whom, and with what expected effect? Write that answer as a single sentence for each major source before drafting. Sources that cannot produce such a sentence are background and belong in one compressed line or nowhere at all, no matter how long they took to find.

An action claim in this subject has four visible parts: the approach and the level it targets, the actor with the authority and resources to run it, the population and setting it reaches, and the outcome it is expected to move with a direction and a plausible size. Work such a source into the draft by stating the claim, attaching the evidence, then naming the gap between the study population and yours. That gap sentence is what turns a citation into applied reasoning. Where assigned readings supply the framework the activity expects, use their vocabulary deliberately and cite them at the point where the framework does work rather than in an opening gesture.

5. Complete discussions and collaborative work

When the live Week contains a discussion, schedule the initial post by its own deadline and each reply by the response window. Three application pitfalls and their fixes

The first pitfall is the evidence dump, where several credible sources are reported in sequence and the action appears only at the end. The fix is to invert the order inside each paragraph: claim, evidence, consequence for the population, then the next claim.

The second pitfall is a recommendation without a mechanism. Naming an approach without saying how it changes the determinant leaves the scorer to supply the reasoning. The fix is one sentence per recommendation naming the determinant it acts on and the step in the chain where it acts.

The third pitfall is the population-level mismatch, where an effect measured in one setting is imported without adjustment. The fix is to keep the borrowed evidence but state the transfer openly: what is similar, what differs, and what would have to be true locally for the effect to hold at a comparable size.
