2. State the Week's reasoning question

3. Build the work in proof order

Reading the rubric row by row when a row spans several Weeks

Synthesis rows are worded broadly, which makes them easy to nod at and hard to satisfy. Read each one for what it is counting. Some are counting breadth, meaning several strands from the course visibly present. Some are counting depth, meaning one strand carried further than any single earlier activity carried it. Some are counting connection, meaning the relationship between strands is itself argued. A response optimized for breadth against a row that wanted connection will read as a competent tour and score below what its effort deserved.

Sources used in earlier Weeks may return, and that is legitimate, but each return needs a new use note stating the new claim it supports here. A source reused for the same claim in the same words is recycled writing wearing a citation. Where two strands of the course rest on literatures that disagree about something relevant, put the disagreement in the spine deliberately and let the response resolve it for this question; that resolution is often the most defensible part of an integrated argument. Assigned readings for the current activity remain mandatory wherever the live instructions require them, whatever the spine contains.

5. Complete discussions and collaborative work

When the live Week contains a discussion, schedule the initial post by its own deadline and each reply by the response window. A useful reply does more than agree: compare evidence, apply the peer's idea to a different context, identify a boundary, or ask a focused question supported by the course material. The student writes and posts every contribution; a tutor may critique clarity and reasoning before submission.

6. Protect identity, practice, and research boundaries

Do not share protected health information, employer secrets, client identities, private peer content, assessment security material, or unauthorized research data. Clinical encounters, field hours, simulations, observations, interviews, group participation, proctored work, residencies, approvals, attestations, and original data collection must be completed and recorded by the student under the applicable Walden process.

7. Run the Week 6 quality gate

9. Defend the learning before moving on

For a discussion, explain what the peer exchanges changed. For clinical, field, research, group, or proctored work, identify which parts the student personally performed and how they were verified. Any point that cannot be explained becomes the first short practice item for the next study session. This oral defense tests understanding more honestly than another formatting pass and turns the finished Week into preparation for Week 7.

Three Week 6 pitfalls and the fix for each

The first pitfall is self-recycling. Reusing one's own earlier sentences feels harmless because the writer produced them, and it is still the wrong move: the prompt is new, the reasoning must be new, and originality expectations apply to prior submitted work as well as to other people's. The fix is to draft from notes and from the reasoning chain rather than from an old document, and to keep earlier submissions closed while the new draft is being written.

The second pitfall is name-dropping earlier Weeks. Phrasing that gestures at what was covered earlier without carrying the idea into the current problem adds length and no argument. The fix is the removal test: if deleting the reference costs the argument nothing, delete it and use the space to develop the connection that actually matters.

The third pitfall is an integration that turns out to be a list. Several strands presented in sequence, each competently, with no statement of how they bear on one another, is the most common shape a synthesis takes when it is assembled rather than argued. The fix is to write the relationship sentences first, one per pair of strands the response will connect, and to build sections around those sentences rather than adding them afterward as transitions.
