2. State the Week's reasoning question

The first pitfall is the buried claim. The second pitfall is the causal leap, where a finding drawn from data collected at one point in time is written as though it established that one thing produced another. The fix is to name the design in the sentence and to say what the design can and cannot support, then to state the additional evidence that would be needed. The third pitfall is the orphan exhibit, a table or figure inserted without a sentence saying what it demonstrates.
