2. State the Week's reasoning question

Translate the live activity into one sentence that names the decision or explanation, the required evidence, the audience, and the expected output. 3. Build the work in proof order

Define the required concept precisely, apply it to the stated context, make the reasoning visible, and close with the implication the current rubric requests.

Make a rubric-to-evidence matrix before prose: one row per criterion, the evidence or reasoning needed, where it will appear, what the student must personally do, and the test that will prove completion. Draft the highest-risk row first, not necessarily the introduction. Protect time for replies, calculations, format conversion, approvals, and the final upload.

4. Use evidence deliberately

Use the assigned readings first when required, then add current authoritative or peer-reviewed support matched to the claim.

For every source, write a one-line use note before drafting. Distinguish direct evidence from interpretation and local observation. Integration is a specific analytic act, not a gesture toward the past. The test is simple: does the earlier concept change the analysis, or does it merely appear inside it. If it asks for coherence, the requirement is that sections refer to one another rather than sitting in sequence. If it asks the writer to build on prior learning, the requirement is a stated change: something understood differently now than earlier.

Then check the draft against those physical requirements instead of against a feeling of connectedness. A quick method is to read only the first sentence of every paragraph, in order. If those sentences form a line of reasoning, the artifact is coherent. If they form a list, it is not, and the repair belongs at the outline level. Confirm the row's wording in the live rubric, since synthesis criteria vary widely between activities and between sections.

Reusing a source for a new claim without reusing old sentences

By this point the source shelf holds material that has already done work, and reusing it is legitimate and often better than searching for something new. What may not be reused is previously submitted language. Reopen the source itself rather than the earlier draft and read the section that bears on the current question. A source cited earlier for a definition may now carry a comparative finding; a source used earlier for scale may now supply a limitation.

Write a fresh use note for the new claim before drafting, and cite the specific part of the work the new claim rests on. If the earlier reading is being extended rather than repeated, say so in the draft: name what was established before and what the source is being asked to support now. That single sentence turns reuse into integration. Balance the shelf as well by adding at least one source that could contradict the emerging position, because a synthesis that only assembles agreement is a summary in a longer coat.

Three integration failures, and how to undo them

The first is recycling submitted language. Even the writer's own earlier work is a prior submission, and a new prompt requires new reasoning, new evidence, and new authorship. The fix is to carry forward the lesson and the method from earlier Weeks while keeping the old file closed during drafting.

The second is name-dropping earlier Weeks. Listing the concepts covered so far reads as integration and scores as coverage. The fix is the fourth column of the concept ledger: bring an earlier concept forward only when it changes something about the current analysis.

The third is the undifferentiated block, where integration produces one enormous paragraph holding four ideas because they all felt related. The fix is one claim per paragraph plus an explicit transition sentence naming the relationship between paragraphs, such as extension, tension, condition, or consequence.

Source boundary

Walden's current catalog verifies this Course-Based class context, and the quarter calendar supports positional Weeks. The public catalog does not identify the student's Week 6 activities.
